Expert Tuition from an English Examiner.

Your child is capable of more in English.

Perhaps they work hard but their grade has stalled. Perhaps their feedback says “develop your analysis” without showing what that looks like. Perhaps an 11+, 13+ or GCSE exam is approaching, and you’re not sure they’re ready. English can feel like the subject where effort doesn’t reliably turn into marks, which is frustrating for students and parents alike.

It doesn’t have to be. As an examiner, I teach students to read their own work the way an examiner will. In 2027 I’ll be examining for AQA, Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International, so whichever board your child sits, I’m marking it.

I have spent 12 years teaching English at leading schools, including The Perse and Habs Boys, and have taught more than 1,500 students, from 11+ to A-Level and Oxbridge. I now work with students from a range of schools, including Dulwich College, St Paul’s, Magdalen College School, the Stephen Perse Foundation and leading state schools, and with families across the UK and as far afield as China, India and the UAE.

The results speak for themselves. Last year, 100% of my GCSE students achieved grades 7–9 in English Language and 96% in Literature, and most improve by two grades or more. But grades are only part of it. Students leave as confident, independent readers and writers. Two recently won distinctions in the National Theatre’s New Views creative writing prize.

I keep my numbers deliberately small so that every student has my full attention. I’m almost fully subscribed until January 2027, with limited availability on Mondays and Wednesdays. Get in touch to tell me about your child, or to join the waiting list.
